This was the initial concept brief for the event. For 2010 rather than having a group of people riding it will just be me for the whole journey with Cam and others along the way.  The goal for the following years is to grow the participation in the event, as that's what its about. Getting people involved at all levels.

Concept Brief

Camp n’ Cycle for Mental Health (CC4MH) brings together individuals and organisations from vastly different backgrounds that share the passions of camping, cycling and/or mental health. This powerful movement will improve access for people who experience mental illness, improve their health and increase awareness of mental health issues in the Victorian community. All this will be achieved by people volunteering and organisations donating or providing in-kind services & goods. Currently the coordination for the event is being done so voluntarily by Liz Leorke & Cameron Stewart who are passionate about cycling, mental health & camping.

The combination of passions will result in a bike ride covering 1,450km for three weeks around Victoria. The riding group and support crew (approximately 25 people) will stop off at campsites around Victoria. During the evening at select campsites, a community dinner will be held where community members, local mental health services, families from schools etc will be invited to hear a guest speaker talk about mental health. This journey will roll out during 17th April – 7th May 2010. Camp n’ Cycle for Mental Health also links to these events:

Australian Camps Association Great Aussie Campout on April 17th – 18th

Vicserv Mental Health Conference – Unfinished Business: Pathways to Social Inclusion April 29th – 30th

YMCA Victoria’s Open Doors fundraising events

The aim is to raise money leading up to and throughout the journey for people who experiencing mental illness to access outdoor adventure programs that improve their physical quality of life and increase their social connectedness.

Support opportunities – The Believers

Camp n’ Cycle for Mental Health thrives and grows on the passions of the community. As this event is driven by those wanting to give or participate, we cannot estimate the impact a contribution by one individual or an organisation can mean for them. Therefore in recognition of the time, talent or treasure that individuals and organisations contribute, Camp n’ Cycle for Mental Health would like to recognise everyone as Believers.

The various roles Believers can take:
